Bright Brings Decades of Health Care Experience and Established Relationships to IVI
Los Angeles, CA – March 5, 2018 – The Innovation and Value Initiative (IVI) – a collaboration dedicated to developing better approaches to measuring value in health care – today announced that Jennifer Bright (pictured left), founder and President of Momentum Health Strategies, has been appointed as IVI Acting Executive Director. In her new role, Bright will help ensure IVI’s innovative research on value in healthcare remains central to the debate about how to define rigorous, patient-centered approaches to value assessment.
Bright brings 25 years of health care experience and leadership to IVI from her roles with Mental Health America, the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and more. She joins IVI at a time when the organization is finalizing its initial round of public feedback on its Open-Source Value Project (OSVP), a first-of-its-kind effort that brings together stakeholders from across the health care system to find consensus in the way value is defined and measured.
“IVI is leading the way on a critically important issue in health care: how we define and measure value with the patient at the center. Transparency, collaboration, and patient-centricity are the guiding priorities of IVI’s work, which they are putting into practice through efforts like the Open-Source Value Project,” said Jennifer Bright, Acting Executive Director of IVI. “I’m excited to be joining IVI and contributing to the work they are doing.”
At IVI, Ms. Bright joins Darius Lakdawalla, Quintiles Chair in Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Innovation at the University of Southern California; Sam Nussbaum, Chair of IVI’s Strategic Advisory Panel; Mark Linthicum, and a team of health economics researchers and patient-engagement experts. Lakdawalla will continue as Vice Chair of the Strategic Advisory Panel.
“We’re delighted to add Jennifer to the IVI leadership team,” said Dr. Lakdawalla. “Her unique expertise makes her a natural choice to help us take the next step from producing innovative research to improving the measurement of value in the health care marketplace. Her deep expertise in health care and strong relationships with the entire range of health care stakeholders will help IVI connect its scientific work to the real-world marketplace, and ultimately improve the way value is rewarded in the health care system.”
Bright brings decades of health care policy, issue management, patient advocacy and executive leadership to the position. As the President of Momentum Health Strategies, she has worked with clients to promote integrated behavioral health care, patient engagement, quality improvement in hospitals and prevention of healthcare-associated infections. She most recently served as Executive Director for the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), a non-profit medical society representing physicians, advanced practice nurses, and researchers with expertise in health care epidemiology and infection prevention. Previously, she led patient advocacy initiatives as Vice President of State Policy for Mental Health America.
