Position Summary
The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide strategic leadership for the Center for Innovation & Value Research (the Center), a mission-driven organization dedicated to advancing transparent, equitable, and patient-centered approaches to value assessment in healthcare.
This role requires a bold and visionary leader who can elevate the Center's national influence by driving strategy, expanding financial resources, and forging trusted partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem. The President & CEO will embody and promote the Center's core principles—centering patient perspectives, advocating for methodological rigor, and ensuring transparency in research and policy conversations—in every aspect of the organization's work.
As the Center continues to grow its impact through thought leadership, research, convenings, and policy engagement, the President & CEO will play a crucial role in ensuring that the patient voice remains central to how value is defined and applied in healthcare decision-making. This position calls for an entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to collaborative leadership, and passion for reshaping healthcare in ways that matter to patients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Develop and communicate a clear, compelling vision for the Center's future, in partnership with the Board of Directors.
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable initiatives aligned with the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.
- Monitor trends in healthcare, policy, and value assessment to proactively position the Center as a thought leader and innovator.
Organizational Leadership and Management
- Provide strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of a small, virtual team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Supervise staff development, recruitment, performance evaluation, and succession planning.
- Ensure strong financial management, compliance, and planning in partnership with team leaders and the Board of Directors.
- Approve major contracts, vendor relationships, and infrastructure investments to support the organization's operations and growth.
- Partner with the research staff and Board of Directors to support high-impact research aligned with stakeholder needs and organizational goals.
Fundraising and Development
- Serve as the organization's chief fundraiser and relationship-builder with current and prospective funders, including foundations, member organizations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.
- Develop and implement a diversified fundraising strategy to sustain and grow the Center's revenue.
- Lead development of grant proposals, concept papers, and presentations to support strategic initiatives.
- Cultivate relationships with philanthropic partners and funding consortia aligned with the Center's mission.
External Engagement and Partnerships
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the Center, building and maintaining strong relationships with the patient, payer, policy, research, and life sciences communities.
- Represent the Center at national conferences, convenings, and stakeholder meetings.
- Engage media and policy influencers to shape and elevate the conversation around patient-centered value.
- Convene and participate in strategic collaborations and advisory bodies to extend the Center's reach and relevance.
Board Relations and Governance
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, supporting governance, communications, and Board development.
- Facilitate effective Board meetings, committee work, and strategic decision-making.
- Lead implementation of governance policies and support an engaged and diverse Board.
Qualifications
Professional
- Proven track record of successful executive leadership in a healthcare-focused nonprofit, research, or policy organization.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, particularly with foundations, corporations, and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
- Experience leading strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and policy-related initiatives.
- Strong operational management skills, including budgeting, compliance, and staff supervision.
- Expertise in healthcare, health economics, patient engagement, or value assessment preferred.

Compensation
A competitive compensation package will be offered, commensurate with experience and sector benchmarks. Base salary will range between $200,000 and $230,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Opportunity for bonus payments based on individual and organizational performance.
