Dr. Mark J. Cziraky is as a renowned clinician researcher and executive leader with over 28 years of experience specializing in real-world evidence insight generation. As the Co-founder and President of Carelon Research, formerly known as HealthCore, Dr. Cziraky oversees several research teams focused on generating real world insights in the areas of clinical research, health economics and outcomes research, safety and epidemiology and data products. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exemplary leadership in clinical pharmacy practice, observational research, and clinical trial design. Dr. Cziraky serves as a primary architect in creating open-source research collaborations within the healthcare industry that allow health plans to be involved in research design and execution with various collaborating organizations.
With a wide-ranging understanding in key therapeutic areas including cardiology and endocrinology and a unique understanding of both the payer, provider and life sciences perspectives, Dr. Cziraky has positioned himself as a thought-leader in the healthcare industry. With well over 250 peer-reviewed journal publications and poster and podium presentations spanning a large number of therapeutic areas, as well as health economic and policy topics, he has earned recognition for his commitment to employing rigorous scientific methodologies and innovative study designs that generate evidence-based insights that lead to health policy change and improve health outcomes.
In addition to holding a Bachelor and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, he also completed a residency in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice in partnership with BCBS of Delaware. Dr. Cziraky holds fellowship status with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the National Lipid Association (NLA) and is a board-certified clinical lipid specialist. His contributions to healthcare extend to various boards and committees, including the Institution of Safe Medication Practice (ISMP), National Lipid Association (NLA), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation, and Center for Innovation and Value Research. Dr. Cziraky also has held various academic appointments at institutions such as the University of Delaware, University of Florida, and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and also lends his clinical expertise to various healthcare journals.
